Region Description:
- The region is divided into four sub-regions, 21 local authority districts, 496 wards, 56 parliamentary constituencies and 1,208 parishes.
- The majority of the region's population live in West and South Yorkshire.
- Population density is below the England average, and certain parts of North Yorkshire are amongst the most sparsely populated in the country.
- Similar to the national trends, the region has an increasingly ageing population with declining birth and death rates. This is particularly noticeable in the more rural areas of the region.
- There is a net inflow of people to the region, predominantly from the North West, South East and London.
- The region's Black and Minority Ethnic population is concentrated mainly within West Yorkshire.
